The End of Bukhara Biennial 2025

Yesterday, November 23, was the final day of the inaugural Bukhara Biennale. What once began as an idea has grown into months of conversations, meetings, and shared moments in the holy city. Thank you to everyone who walked the courtyards, climbed the steps of the madrasa, listened, tasted, asked questions, created, and connected. Even though the doors are closed, the spirit of the Biennale lives on. It lives on in the memories taken home, the friendships forged, and the quiet transformation that occurs when art meets place, and place meets world.

  Bukhara Biennial is a new contemporary initiative taking place from September 5th to November 20th, 2025 across newly restored historic landmarks in the city of Bukhara, a UNESCO Creative City of Craft & Folk Art. Bukhara Biennial will mark the first contemporary art event in Bukhara of such scale and one of the largest and most diverse art initiatives in Central Asia. The event is commissioned by Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, an instrumental organisation driving the restoration and amplification of culture across the country and internationally. Uzbekistan honors winners of the IV National Hospitality Award

     On 26 February 2025, the award ceremony for the IV National Hospitality Award of Uzbekistan took place as part of the international HOTEL BUSINESS FORUM-2025. Organized by the Uzbekistan Hoteliers Association with the support of the Tourism Committee, the award aims to enhance service quality in tourism, promote Uzbekistan’s unique hospitality potential, and encourage innovation in the hotel industry. This year, a record 310 applications were submitted by hotels and accommodations across the country, from Tashkent to Nukus. A total of 44 winners were recognized in 37 categories, covering various aspects of the hospitality sector, including service quality, sustainability, gastronomy, and design. Uzbekistan joins the International Code for the Protection of Tourists

     On 24 February 2025, Uzbekistan officially became a participant in the International Code for the Protection of Tourists, developed by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This decision underscores the country's commitment to upholding high international standards in tourism and ensuring the rights of travelers. Joining the Code marks an important milestone in the ongoing development of Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, which has been gaining international recognition in recent years. Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov emphasized the significance of this step, stating, "The International Code for the Protection of Tourists is a key instrument in restoring trust in travel in the post-pandemic period.
